Arts in Worship
“Taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”
-Psalm 34:8
“Why do we Worship?”
Worship is the response to whatever it is we treasure most in our lives. We respond to what we value most. We give our time, our allegiance to things throughout our whole day. We worship all day everyday. Worship is the core activity of the human soul. We cannot stop it, we cannot help it. In fact, we must do it. We are created to worship. We seek to worship what will bring us the most fulfillment and happiness.
“Happiness in God is the end of all our seeking. There is no higher goal for a worshipper. Worship is an end in itself.”
“God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him.”
-John Piper
Purpose
The purpose of Arts in Worship is to Glorify God by enjoying Him through:
- Expressing our dependence in authentic repentance openly (John 3:21).
- We all fall short of His glory everyday. We desire to lead the church honestly in it’s weaknesses, therefore honoring God in His strength, grace and sufficiency.
- Repentance is a joy-filled, absolutely necessary experience and discipline for authentic Christian worship.(Romans 2:4)
- Using artistic gifts He has bestowed upon us to reflect His unique and infinite character.
- We believe that multi-ethnic worship is a necessary and vital component of By Grace Community Church (Rev. 7:9).
- Music will not be the only way to express our love for our Glorious God. We will worship Him through Dance, Visual Arts, Poetry, Spoken Word, Drama, and anything else that might “reflect His unique and infinite character”(Psalm 150).
- Dedication to Excellence and Humility.
- Worship is not a minor detail of Christian life. We are dedicated to giving our best through the arts and recognizing that only through and by Him are we able to offer praises.
- God will be the center of Arts and Worship and not man (Exodus 20:3)
- True Worship (John 4)
- Worship must be led by the Holy Spirit.
- Worship must be led by the Truth of the Holy Word.
- Leading Others to “Taste and See that He is Good”. (Psalm 34:8)
- We are called to be telescope lenses. We are to magnify His infinite glory for all to see.
- We invite all people to encounter the Grace of God with us
